Diversity scholarships

The useR! 2017 diversity scholarship program is intended to provide an opportunity for traditionally under-represented individuals (such as, but not limited to, LGBTQ people, women, ethnic minorities, or those with disabilities) who might not otherwise be able to attend due to logistical or financial constraints.

We hope to award as many scholarships as our funding allows based on a combination of need and impact. Selections will be made by a committee of reviewers chosen by the Forwards taskforce (http://forwards.github.io/).
Questions or comments welcome at diversity@user2017.brussels.

The deadline for applications is April 1, 2017.

1. While you may apply to other scholarship programs through useR!, you are only eligible to receive one of the awards.

2. If you plan to submit an abstract, please do so before applying for a diversity scholarship. (You do not need to submit an abstract nor be accepted as a presenter to be considered.  Also, please note that abstracts are evaluated by a separate committee).

3. If you have any questions before applying, you may contact the evaluation committee at diversity@user2017.brussels.

What do you need funding to cover? Note registration and one conference dinner ticket are provided for all scholarship recipients. It is assumed you will use the conference-provided childcare if applicable. You can stay in whichever accommodation suits your logistical requirements (hotel, apartment, airbnb, ...), subject to a modest budget. Select all options that apply:

Have you submitted an abstract to the conference? (We realize acceptance of abstracts is still pending)

Is this your first time at the useR! conference?

Were you a recipient of a diversity scholarship at useR! 2016? (Previous recipients are welcome to apply this year, but priority will be given to first time applicants).
